John Llewellyn, President and CEO of Forest Lawn, to Deliver 2004 Cypress College Mortuary Science Program Commencement Address

GLENDALE, Calif.--Extending its commitment to celebrate life in Southern California, Forest Lawn-Cypress will host the commencement ceremonies for the 2004 graduating class of Cypress College's Mortuary Sciences Program today at 5:00 p.m. The commencement address will be delivered by John Llewellyn, president and CEO of Forest Lawn(R), who will share wisdom gleaned during more than three decades in the cemetery and funeral industries.

During his career, Mr. Llewellyn worked to mesh his expertise in leading a renowned memorial-park and mortuary with his unique insight into the individual personal, social, religious and cultural needs of each customer as they plan to celebrate a life. Mr. Llewellyn is active in the community and a well-respected author. His most recent book, "Saying Goodbye Your Way," was released to major book stores this month.

Founded in 1966, Cypress College provides a quality higher education to more than 16,000 students of diverse backgrounds each semester. The college serves the Orange County cities of Anaheim, Buena Park, Cypress, Garden Grove, La Palma, Los Alamitos and Stanton, although residents of any city are welcome.

Forest Lawn is the community resource where families and friends turn to celebrate life—from weddings and baptisms to funerals and family history. Founded in 1906, Forest Lawn serves Southern California through its five locations in Covina Hills, Cypress, Glendale, Hollywood Hills and Long Beach with 1250 acres, only 750 of which are developed. Forest Lawn originated the memorial park concept that eliminated upright tombstones in favor of sweeping vistas and lawns. In addition, Forest Lawn opened the first mortuary on dedicated cemetery grounds.
